HI

I've just turned my pc on, But the keyboard and mouse won't respond, the mouse lights up, but the keyboard doesn't. tried two other keyboards but they would not work, neither would the mouse.

So I tried resetting Cmos in the hope that would do something, But now I get message saying bios checksum error. And I still cannot enter bios settings as keyboard won't work on this screen....

Has my Mobo bitten the dust!?. It's a Abit AV8 3rd eye...

Thanks.

P.s sorry for any typo mistakes, I had trouble seeing what I type using my PS3 with my TV

duff battery shouldn't/wouldn't kill off his keyboard and mouse though.
Are they ps/2 connected? If so, can you try a usb set?

They are Ps/2 connectors on the board. But the keybaord and mouse are USB, So i've got adaptes on them..

They've been fine for a couple of years... Yet all of a sudden !...

your ps/2 controller could have gone fubar. Just try them in the usb ports (obviously without the ps/2 adaptors on).
Amongst the 50 odd pcs i have to look after, i've had one or two that have just decided to stop working with ps/2 for some reason. I usually just use usb instead, unless i really need a new mobo.

I've plugged the keyboard and mouse in the USB ports, The mouse lights up. But the keyboard still dead, and it doesnt even flash it's numlock lights when reooting.

So I guess that's it then it's fubar... as it won't respond at all to keyboard even in a different port..

OK UPDATE:

The keyboard blew and is now FUBAR and so is the ps/2 controller.

So now I'm using new keyboard in USB port...

Thankyou for your help.
