Hi there, i am new to overclocking and just built this PC

DS3 motherboard
E6400 C2
GeIL 2GB (2x1GB) PC6400C4 800MHz Ultra Low Latency DDR2 Dual Channel Kit
8800 GTS 320mb

I followed the steps in the DS3 guide sticky and done all of these

Clocking
1. Make sure that you have the latest chipset drivers and flash the board to the most recent bios version
2. On the main bios screen press Ctrl+F1 to open the advanced options within the menus
3. In the Advanced Bios Features Menu, Disable all of the following: CPU Enhanced Halt (C1E), CPU Thermal Monitor 2(TM2), CPU EIST Function
4. In the PC Health Status menu, set the FAN Speed Control Method to "Legacy" & FAN Speed Control Mode to "PWM" to maintain highest speed
5. Go into the MB Intelligent Tweaker (MIT) menu at the bottom of the page, set the System voltage control to "Manual"
6. These boards have a default VDIMM of 1.8v, set the VDIMM to co-ordinate with your ram. The Geil I have is specced as 2.1v so I have mine set to +0.3v
7. Set the MCH Voltage to +0.1v
8. Set the FSB Voltage to +0.1v
9. Set the VCORE to 1.45v - Please be aware that this will increase temps!
10. Set the CPU Host Clock Control to "Enable"
11. Set the System Memory Multiplier to "2x"
12. You're set to go, just increase the System bus Frequency to Overclock
13. I would reccommend that you use Intels TAT to monitor temps

Except i have not changed the VCORE.

but this one
6. These boards have a default VDIMM of 1.8v, set the VDIMM to co-ordinate with your ram. The Geil I have is specced as 2.1v so I have mine set to +0.3v
I never seen any option with the words VDIMM in them
So i assumed i was ment to change the DDR2 OVERVOLTAGE CONTROL , was i right?

And i think i know this one but want to make sure. Is System Bus Frequency the same as CPU Host Frequency?

I dont see any option to change system bus frequency only cpu host frequency and that is set at 200?

My Clock Ratio is set to 8x
so would it be CPU Host 200MHz x 8 and then double because it is a dual core?

Also for my MEMORY timings this is what it reads in the BIOS
CAS Latency 5
DRAM RAS to CAS 5
DRAM RAS to Precharge 5
Precharge Delay 18
Act to act delay 3
Rank Write To Read Only 3
Write To Precharge Delay 6
Refresh To Act Delay 42
Road to Pre Charge 3

Are these setting ok? do i need to change them?
Here is the product info for the Geil RAM

GeIL is proud to announced DDR2 800MHz, PC6400 800MHz supports CAS 4-4-4-12 with 1GB and 2GB Dual Channel Kits. These Ultra modules are hand picked for maximum FSB overclocking potential.

- PC6400 800MHz CAS 4-4-4-12
- 64x8 DDR2 BGA Chips
- 240pin, Non-ECC, Un-buffered DDR2 SDRAM DIMM
- Aluminum Heat-spreader
- 6 Layers Ultra Low Noises Shielded PCB
- Lifetime Warranty
- 1.9V-2.3V Power Supply

Correct, VDIMM is called DDR2 OVERVOLTAGE CONTROL. You want 2.1v or +0.30v.

Correct again, FSB is CPU Host Frequency.

The DS3 will say 200MHZ for the FSB the first time you run it. The correct FSB for that CPU is actually 266MHZ. Set that and it will run at 266x8 = 2100.
The memory will run at 266x2 = 533. But double check that, this can also be altered via a multiplier to higher figures. You actually want that mutlipier to be x3 for your particular memory.

Change the memory timing figures to match the memory.

CAS Latency 5
DRAM RAS to CAS 5
DRAM RAS to Precharge 5
Precharge Delay 18

Should be,

CAS Latency 4
DRAM RAS to CAS 4
DRAM RAS to Precharge 4
Precharge Delay 12

Save and exit. ;)

That will give you a CPU running at its rated speed with memory also running at its rated speed. Nothing overclocked at this point.

Looks like it done the trick, i am well sorted now

Just overclocked my graphics card aswell and ran 3dmark06, i came in at #47714
with a score of
9988
SM 2.0 Score 4422 Marks
SM 3.0 Score 4357 Marks
CPU Score 2647 Marks

All running at a nice temperature :)

This site has been a great help to me , from advice on what to buy to building it and then overclocking.
Thanks again

Forgot to say, i overclocked the CPU to 3ghz
