Use GPU-Z to see if it downclock when it's idle.

Also just to be clear, the ASRock N68C-S UCC GeForce 7025 board I mentioned while it has 4 ram slots, 2 slots are for DDR2, and 2 slots are for DDR3...so if you have more than two sticks of DDR2 ram you wouldn't be able to use them all.

No...it's not the board the OP currently have...it is another budget board which I suggested that he could consider as a back-up plan IF new CPU doesn't work with his current board even after BIOS update.

You sure it doesn't downclock to 157mhz on the core and 300mhz memory when your in desktop/idle?

Yeah, that was weird. Last time I was idle and it didn't do that but now it does.

It's been a long time and again, sorry for the hassle but I'm thinking of making a purchase.

I'm thinking of getting a Asus P8P67 LE Intel P67 Express Socket 1155 Motherboard with an i5 2500 sandy bridge 3.3ghz. Also getting a 700w PSU and 2x2gb DDR 3 ram. Is this a good choice? It should total at about £400.

I'm wondering if this case can handle it all or should I also think about upgrading that?

Hopefully, all of this should enable my graphics card to work at its full potential.
