Hi all just to begin with iam a bit cluless at networking but ill try and put it all as simple as i can

Okay there are 4 pc's in my house mums sisters my games pc and my htpc/file server

At the minute i have my two pcs hardwired into my router which is a belkin wirless g (not the asdl one) the model is F5D7230-4, both of my hardwired pc's are on static ip's and a port forward on the htpc for downloading, the router is connected to my 25mb virgin broadband box (going to look at gettin 50mb soon though)

all pc's have windows 7 ultimate 32bit and 64bit and have made it so i can share files across the network but for some reason it wont allow me to access some off my harddrives on my htpc/file server even though all the settings are on full control for all user's under the sharing tab why is this i have no password protection and it does work as i can acess some off the harddrives but not all and they all have the same settings ?

and i've also noticed if i choose to send big files across the network they will only go at about 10mb/s why is this do i need to upgrade my router ?

not sure about the HDD issue, so i wont attempt to answer it

however, if you upgraded your router to wireless N (300mb's) and all wireless adapters to wireless N (300mb's) you would see a faster transfer rate accross your network over wireless computers/laptops. speed of your wired computers would stay the same (100mb's) unless you got a router with 1GB's ports

belkin website says your current router is upto 54mb's.
