need some help with C&C 3

I've just installed it and can't get it working.When I try is comes up with a message saying "Please make sure you have directX 9.0 or higher installed.Also verify that your video card meets minimum requirements,and that you do not have hardware acceleration disabled in Display control panel" :confused:

I don't get this as i've played the game on my PC before and everything is up to date.
I have an ATI4870 in my pc so don't see why this game should be a problem.
Anybody know what to do?

I had this problem. You're in Vista or Windows 7 I bet. Patch the game to the latest version and the game will start.

Have you tryed installing different GPU drivers ??

Or try reinstalling DX

I just purchased this game of steam 30 min ago and am in the process of downloading it....hope mines runs smooth when i get it installed

Yes I am on windows 7.Where do I get the patch from?The game won't even load into the main menu to download any updates.
