hey
I need to upgrade my old 7600 gt oc 256mb to something hmm lets say fresher. I was thinking about BFG9800 gtx+512 oc. Is it good value for money ? (price about 160 quid).
I'm totally confused and I hope some1 will help me ;)

My spec:
amd athlon64 x2 3800+ 2ghz
gforce 7600gt oc 256 mb
OCZ 2gb PC2-6400 400mhz ddr2
Asus M2N Sli Deluxe (nforce 570sli)
500w psu
LG flatron L1900R 19"

My budget is about 160-200quid max

(if something doesn't sound english-sorry , english is not my first language)

For a 19" I would just get an 8800GT 512mb and overclock your CPU a bit (try for 2.6ghz at least).

the thing is - I have no idea how to overclock :f
is there a good guide on how to do it properly ? so it doesnt blow up

Hi my bother has nearly the same spec as you, I just upgraded his graphic card to the 8800gt and it plays all the latest game like crysis and left for dead.

okay so now I know that buying something like 9800gtx+ would be just a waste of money because of my 19" screen. Would it be a good idea to buy ati4850 and upgrade my cpu to amd x4 phenom 9550 2.2 ghz? or would amd x2 6000 3.1ghz be good enough ? x4 is about 30 quid more than that x2 , is it worth it ?
And would that x4 fit into my mobo ? my socket is am2 and on that x4 phenom says am2+ ??
Which card would be better for me , bfg8800gt oc2 512 or Sapphire4850 512 or maybe something else ? any sugestions on make ?

thanks for all replies :) all of them are very very helpfull

COD4 runs quite well when most stuff is set on medium however after couple of houres pc just gets hot and the slideshow appears on my screen , what I expect from my pc is to run games such as COD4 on high settings without overheating ofc.
When it comes to computers i dont really trust second hand stuff :f this is why I consider buying slightly slower cpu (still much faster than what Ive got now) and buying brand new graphics

Have a look in the overclocking forum, loads of people will help.

The extra cache will help in games and the Quad core would be handy for any multi thread apps you use, but i would overclock what you have first, its free !

That sound like thermal throttling to me and is more than likely down to your case cooling. You will need to look at this as it will effect all cards.
