Hi everyone

I need some help regarding setting up my home network, what I have it Sky Fiber Broadband been installed in few weeks time there will be

1 desktop connected by wire
3 laptops wireless
and could be up to 3 other devices connected is well like mobile phones,

the main problem I have because is shared house I want to be able to control the speed the laptops getting so don't want one device pulling 20mb at times where the others only be getting like 5, not sure if that how this work I never had to do this way, would setting up a server would solve my problem? or is there anything else on market, like I said I don't have very good idea so please let me know how to achieve this.

Ade

Some routers have Bandwidth Management settings which you could look at.

The best way to do this (as I'm guessing you're thinking one or two users are going to hammer the bandwidth with Torrents/Newsgroups) is to talk to your housemates and discuss not misusing the connection for these things which ruin the experience for everyone else.

Hi

I all ready try talking to them but you just never know someone will leave the torrent downloading while they go to work or leave steam running ect., so need something that I can manage

So what type of router would you recommend, that will be able to control wireless and wired connection? or maybe good software but not the ones that you need to install in each device

I was looking at TP link routers because until my FTTC gets instal I need to be able to have adsl connection and on TP link routers they have the LAN/WAN port, would this be any good?
