Hello all, My Maximus Extreme 4 z board arrived today, the last item I needed to build my pc, my build consists of 2700k,maximus Extreme 4 Z, 8gb corsair hp ram (2x4), 1tb seagate hd, his 5670 1gb, vx550 pus, windows 7 64 bit (that should be all that is needed to help right?)

anyways the problem I have is that I can press DEL untill Im blue in the face and I wont get into mu UEFI bios, I dont really know how to explain it, Ive booted into windows, installed all the software I wanded, updated drivers, installed the 60+ updates for win7, but when I rested and try to get into the bios my screen messes up and it just resets itself, ocassionaly when I press del the screen will hang on a pure black (or blank?) screen and I will get a 34 error display on the led screen.

Best way I could show you was buy taking a video of it on my camera, link :http://youtu.be/Y54UtbJW87A

sorry about the shoddy video but it was the best I could do lol

Thanks for any help you are going to gve and also ask away if you need more info

ps the video doesnt show it but I'm just tapping the DEL button throughout apart from the ocassional reset button

Crap XD I thought it coulda been somethiing I did, as it boots into winodws fine if I leave it, and everything else seems to be working, just quite annonying that I cant see the bios, the same problem happens even if I switch to the second bios - which was running the 0902 version, I was wondering if updating the it to 1004 caused it,but I'm getting nothing on either bios chip - both bios are now updated to 1004 btw.

yeh thats what I thought just not sure what I could have done wrong that lets me boot into windows but not bios

I suppose the actual UEFI menu could be corrupted, but it's far to coincidental for it to happen on both BIOS'.
Definitely not right for a top end board like that :(

As it is my first build i'm not ruling out me doing or forgetting something extremly stupid XD (originally wouldnt turn on....half an hour later by chance pushed on my ram modules - they werent in properly and hence the system wouldnt boot so yeh....lol)

Thanks for your help, I dont have an old legacy keyboard to try (only thing people seem to be suggesting when |I search google, and my keyboard seems to be responding anyways, I'l keep searching)

Well you can also get an adaptor to convert usb to ps2. My guess there is a seting in the bios to enable usb support on boot

I was reading that it could be something to do with me using a hdtv and not a monitor? (not sure how as its the same card and same tv) but a similar problem with no splash screen and unable to enter the bios had some problem with the tv...I dont have a monitor or any card wih vga port etc so cant be sure if this is what im experiening or not

Have you got the Keyboard plugged into a USB3 port ?

If so might be worth putting it in a USB2 port as I made this mistake but the keyboard would
still work in windows just not on boot up.

Yeh I've tried it in the rog connect usb port and the usb 2.0 front port on my case, also tried the wireless keyboard I have too, I'm not getting a splash screen either it seems, just "no hard drive dectected" on the top left and on the bottom left "press space to continue"

Yeh what you are seeing there is the ACHI mode screen were it detects what drives
you have in ACHI mode don't worry about that unless you got a SSD

Ah okay then, so thats not it then, I cant seem to get to the MegaTrends screen though, I've seen it twice somehow but no opption on it to see bios, I'm really stumped here, and its probably an easy solution

With the BIOS you can disbaled "Full screen logo" so all you see is the megatrends screen.

Problem with that is you cant just press delete on the megatrends screen you have to
press delete as soon as you turn the system on and just keep pressing it every 2seconds
or so m8.

I kept missing my BIOS by not pressing soon enough but just turn the pc on and press
it like i said and all should be cool m8.

when you turn your PC on wait for your keyboard to illuminate before you start pessing anything... very unlikely, but I cant get into BIOS if I press any button before the keybaord lights come on... really frikin weird

Thanks for all the help so far, I reset cmos, then took out the battery (nicly placed under the graphics card lol) turned on pc and got this :

I cant hit enter all lI want on both keyboards but nothing

ps my ram i meant to be 1600...naturally not being able to enter bios means I cant change it)
