Need some help with my Wireless N setup

I have recently got one of the Netgear DGND3300v2 Wireless Router with matching usb adaptors to go with it.

However I seem to getting really poor signal as soon as I go into the next Room and the room the other side of that. In a straight line the furthest Pc location is 15 paces away, in this room I get no wireless G or N reception.

In the middle room the wireless N reception gets to about 27 mbps out of 300 mbps with a signal strength of 22%.

Am I am expecting too much from wireless N?

I have tried all the 5Ghz channel. The furthest PC is 11m away in straigh line through 2 walls. It seems to be bad support for Vista 64 bit, as with my brothers ancient celeron XP laptop gets 80 Mbps which better that vista but still crap for 11m away.

I have sent the lot back to the place I got it from.

Has anyone got any recommendations for Wireless N stuff that supports Vista 64 bit properly? As it seems that the Netgear stuff I have sent back and the Linksys stuff both don't work very well.

I have put my old Linksys WAG54GX2 back on and in the room where the netgear gave no wireless N and 20% wireless G, it gives 80% signal for Wireless G.
