Should i go for a 7900 or 8600gt 256? i looked at some reviews and they said that they preferd the 7900

Have a hiper 650w psu so dont worry about the power
 
I would wait abit more before getting an HD2900XT, we need more DX10 benchmarks to see which card really is the best one to go for, atm its 50/50 between the 8800's and the HD2900's.
