I have a router Belkin Pre-N downstairs and a system connected to it via a yellow cable (cat5) so i am told. Then i have another system upstairs that is connected via the wireless. I want to connect the upstairs system to the router downstairs and make a wired connection but i am unsure of what wire i would need, all i know is that i need 30m of cable. If someone has done this before or knows what it is i need to do can post here i would be very greatfull.

Thanks in advance

Seems like you need a 30 m stretch of Cat 5 e cable. Am I missing something?

Just the rj45 outlet and patress at the bedroom end, plus the tool for connecting the wires into the back of the rj45 socket, plus the plug for the other end, plus the tool for inserting/securing the wires in the plug. Oh and a few cable clips might be handy :)

Could always look at something like the powerline products, they would remove the need for a 30m wire, though they come with a price tag.....

Doesn't necessarily have to be powerline there are other brand equivalents....

They will allow you to carry a network signal through the electricity, which works very well...... i have personally used the Devolo branded products...

Yes thats a standard cat5 network cable, that's all that is required.....

The only other network cable you may ever use in a home envrioment would be a crossover cat5 cable, which is used for direct connections, for example PC to PC....
