At the begining of the year i got myself a nice new gaming rig:

Intel i5 2500k
Asus p8p67 pro ver B
Nvidia GTX 570
HAF X
Corsair H-70
4GB corsair XMS3 PC3-10666

It has worked great all year but recently it randomly seems to overheat, and by randomly i mean it will work great for say 5 days then for a few hours on the 6th day it will keep overheating and then go back to working great for a while.

Only thing i could imagin it being is the pump on the H-70 but would it really just fail at random like this? or maybe the sensers on the mobo are off i really don't know. Really just looking for some input on this or if anyone else has had this same problem. thanks

I originally had the pump connected to the CPU fan slot on the mobo but have now connected it to the PSU this morning but it's still happening.

one thing i missed from my op is that it only seems to occure after the system has been off, i am yet to have it happen while the system is crrently running.

using the Asus tools my idle temp is usually about 25 - 30 degrees c but at the moment it seems to be idling at about 60 and shoots up as soon as i do anything untill the system crashes.

the link doesn't work.

after having my pc off for about an hour it seems to be working now, current temp is 30 degrees C while playing Star Wars The Old Republic. it has been sujested to me that it could be the thermal compound thats the issue? would that cause such a random issue?

i should have the stock HSF somewere i could try that though i am currently out of thermal compund and don't really want to head to some poor local store to get some cheap stuff

Edit: i moved the pump from the PSU to the power fan socket on the mobo as i was told that always gives 12v and the asus tools are showing the pump as running at 1400-1500 rpm is this normal? earlier on when it was connected to the CPU 3pin it showed as running at 5000RPM not sure why they were so different.
