Hi guys!

Need a hand with some overclocking. Recently got the following setup -

Intel Core i7 920 D0 Stepping (SLBEJ) 2.66Ghz (Nehalem) (Socket LGA1366)
Gigabyte GA-X58A-UD3R Intel X58 (Socket 1366) DDR3 Motherboard
Geil Black Dragon 6GB (3x2GB) DDR3 PC3-12800C8 (1600MHz) Tri-Channel

I keep hearing how stupidly easy these chips overclock and admittedly, I've got to where I am with relative ease (3.30GHz).

I followed a guide to get to 3.8 on Tweaktown - I'd post the link but not sure if it's considered a competitor at all (4.0 and voltage increase worried me slightly but I suspect I'm being over cautious - the thought of ruining £500 worth of kit doesn't fill me full of joy!) but as I set all the settings according to my system, when I rebooted, I just got a black screen - everything powered up but didn't POST.

Got it to 3.6 I think and then it crashed after about 5 minutes of Prime95 Large ffts ? It's been happy at this now which is good but feel I'm missing out a bit.

Can anyone shed some light at all or maybe post their settings ? I'm not as confident as I once was!

Thanks all!

it depends on your cooling capability, you want to keep the processor under 70 celcius or it will get damaged. As you using gigabyte id suggest you use their software to overclock it and then go from their. you may need to raide the voltage or improve cooling, can you post temps and a printscreen of your MIT BIOS page?
