Need some pro help with upgrading my pc

Hi, I would like some advice on what components I could buy in order to improve my PC's performance when playing games. I am looking at trying to spec for high end graphics.
In terms of budget I'd like to keep things as cheap as possible ofc but as a guideline I'd like to spend £500ish.

My current PC model is the Acer Aspire G7200.
Processor: AMD Phenom 9650 Quad Core 2.3Ghz
RAM: 6Gb
Graphics Card: ATI RADEON HD 4600 Series 1Gb

Better graphics card? Mayber overclock your cpu?

Thanks for the suggestion, I kind've figured that much though. What I really need help with is suggestions on what model graphics card would be compatible with my PC?

Whats the motherboard make and model number? and the PSU too?

The motherboard make is Acer and the model is Aspire G7200
The PSU is 750W

I see, it seems like a nice card. I wonder if I'd see a significant improvement from the upgrade? It certainly appears that way and I can't argue with the price. Thank you I appreciate the help. Obviously any further suggestions are still welcome.
