Hey all,

Over the last month my CRT has started to cause me eye-strain (My monitor only, LCD's are fine :)) - so ive decided to upgrade to a TFT :D

Only i have no knowlegde of TFT's, Im looking for either a 17inch or a 19inch screen, to be used for Gaming purposes, so a low response time is required! - also, do some TFT's have a no dead pixels guarantee?, the last thing id want is dead pixels ;)
Thats where my knowlegde on TFT's ends....
Can anyone recommend some TFT's that are good for gaming use?

Thanks!

Samsung do some nice TFT's for gaming. 940bf springs to mind.

I use an XEROX XAP17" TFT with an 8ms response. One word to describe it:

AWESOME :D

Viewsonic VX922 is currently the best for gaming. I have one and it's the dog's. :)

Thanks for your advice,

Im off to pick one up this afternoon (From overclockers of course ;)), But i cant really decide between these two screens:

Viewsonic VX922
or
samsung 940BF

Im going towards the viewsonic....but not entirely sure!

Can someone tell me what the Dead Pixel 'arrangement' (cant think of the right word!) is with these screens?

I.e. do either have a 0 dead pixel or...3? or...etc

Not quite sure what you mean. Dead pixels are fault with the monitor so you can't really say how many they will have. You will be unlucky to get a monitor with dead pixels but it can happen.

Oops, what i ment was the warrenty? on dead pixels, ie, some manufacturers offer a No dead pixel warrenty, and some offer 3 Dead pixels...etc if you see what i mean!

I noticed it on a 8ms screen so I would hazard a guess that yes you probably will notice blur "after glow". I've changed to a 6ms screen and thats pretty much the same performance as my old trinitron CRT (as in not really an issue).

Although it does depend on the game you play. I found it was bad when playing GT legends if say you were using a tele view and the car went shooting by. FPS's dont seem to be so much of a problem.
