I've just agreed to play in a 6 a side footy team with some mates and it's on Astroturf so I'm after some decent trainers for use on this surface.
I've never played competitive football before so don't really have a clue what type of trainers I need, any recommendations?

What size shoe do you take ?

I have a pair of brand new Size 10 Adidas turf shoes I have used twice. You are welcome to have them gratis if you want. I need to get rid of some stuff and that would be a good start.

I'd say medium to wide on the width as for budget around £40.

Then I'd say to definately look for a pair of cheap Adidas/Nike blades. The first time I played on that surface, I just wore my normal astroturfs and it tore the legs clean out of me after just under 2 hours playing almost non-stop. Was sore for days after. :p

The blades made it much more bareable, not fighting to stay on my feet. :D

Best bet get yourself down to either JJB or Sports & what ever they are this week, and just say ' I want a to try some astro turf/blades in your size for about £40 and black'
As I am also a 11 and they hardly ever have any.

Also these are basic http://www.jjbsports.com/football-boots--trainers/umbro-xai-vii-turf/prod_127915.aspx but if you hate it you want have blown your money

Check with the 6-a-side organisers before buying any blades. The team i play for is in a league that doesn't allow blades. Also, I always like the Nike Touch trainers.

Nike '5ives' Touch. Can normally be found for £30 and are decent.

The only other ones I'd recommend are the World Cup / Copa Mundial equivilent version for astroturf, can't think of the name but they are about £70.

Anyone had these?

Looking for a new pair. Not quite getting along with my Mercurials now in terms of touch. Used to be able to bring the ball down perfectly with my Total 90s. Although I had my best game in months on Monday. :) Great fun that was.

Also looking at these:
