Hi all,

We're driving a 2001 Citroen Saxo on the Mongol Rally.
We hit a pot hole in the Ukraine - straight away, rear left wheel started rubbing like mad on the arches.

We stopped, and a dodgy mechanic said the torsion bar has snapped (or the left one).

We can't get a replacement part, as the Saxo never made it outside of Europe.

We banged out the arches as much as possible, and now it seems fine - even bottoming out on the suspension we think rather than rubbing on the arches.

Does this sound like a snapped Torsion Bar?

Currently sat at a Citroen dealership in Volgograd, Russia - they have never changed the part and can't get it, so we're resorting to other garages.

Would appreciate ANY advice - thanks

Can't you jack it up to level the bar out & sleeve & weld it ?

id think about getting hold of another saxo and swap the beam

failing that. weld the rear suspension sold on that side to get permanent ride height

Can't you use the original suspension pick up points and weld together something that 'fills in the gaps' ?

To be honest I would forget about sourcing an original part in Russia - or get someone in the UK to find one and DHL it to you....
