yeah 7.1 = 8 channel

and yeah you can use headphones, jack sensing means it detects what you've plugged into the audio jack sockets

thanks so how would i go about setting up 7.1 just that when i am in game i hear sound from left or right i cannot tell if say the sound is behind me if you know what i mean do i have to make sure my headphones are 7.1

Basically there will be 4 sockets I think. We'll call them a b c and d
a will be stereo/ front audio, b will be middle/line in, c will be back/ microphone d will be sub and centre/Line out.
The jacks should auto change their mode depending on whats plugged in.
What headphones do you have what plugs do they have coming out of them?

you can use front headphone socket

some headphones support 5.1 not sure about 7.1 but if it says they support it then fine

I think its software that simulates 7.1 into stereo/headphones

rear speakers all have separate jack plugs for each speaker 5.1/7.1 ect

great thanks can i use a set of these and still get 7.1 thanks
Corsair Raptor HS40 USB 7.1 Comfortable Gaming Headset - i mean with it being usb 7.1 and not one with lots of jacks
