Hi thanks for looking.

I've finally made my mind up.

I'm looking at a i7 11700k with a asus tough gaming b560 plus mb. I already have some corsair vengeance rgb pro 3600 memory that hasn't worked out with amd but I'm hoping it will with intel before I buy more.
A corsair cxf rgb series 750w psu.

I already have a evga rtx 3070 xc3 ultra and everything else.

I just want to make sure my gpu will run at PCI-E 4.0 and I can enable nvidia resizable bar. The memory will run at its advertised speed and my cooler master ml120l is adequate to keep an i7 cool. I know the ml120l has mixed reviews but it manages to keep my ryzen 7 2700x at 60c under load with the aio pump and radiator fan idling.

I think that's everything.

Thanks.

I'd wait a little bit as the 12 series are out soon.

Thanks. I was going to but money is tight right now. Also I've heard rumours about compatibility issues with older games. I'm basically just gaming. Amd ain't working out for that atm. I was gonna go with a 5800x but the i7 is cheaper and better by the looks of some benchmarks I've seen.

The most cost effective upgrade would be to just toss a 5600X in your current setup but if you did want to go Intel then just for gaming your best off getting a 12600KF then disable the E cores if your worried about compatibility for older games, the saving on that chip vs the 11700k will mean you can get the better Z690 board although make sure you pick a board for DDR4 if you want to keep your current ram.

"Money is tight right now" ..... You are getting an upgrade by going to a whole new Intel system but it is not massive and you would be better off saving your money for a future system.

You have upgradeitus so take your time and think about what the new system will actually let you do that you cannot already do.
If you really want to upgrade then wait till after xmas when AMD release the new 3d stacked Ryzens and a whole host of 5800x hit the second hand market to drive their price down. A second hand 5800x is the obvious choice for you to aim for and will give similar performance to an Intel 11700 (imo better due to reduced performance/watt so cooling is easier).

You really should rethink your plans.

Ok ok lol I'm calming down.

What about a i7 12700kf it's priced £10 more than the 11700.

If I can get one that is!

Right now the system won't let me do what I wanna do. The memory will only work stable at 2666mhz which is a full ghz under its advertised speed. Gaming performance is rubbish. My frame rate is all over the place. Like it will be 60fps then drop to 20 with constant stutter and freezing that lasts several seconds.
It could be the memory or motherboard or maybe the cpu. So my plan is to replace all 3 but go with intel which I can safely say for the last 20 years has never come with any of these problems I'm facing now.

Can you disable just the e cores? I don't really understand these cpus are they like the hybrid snapdragon ones? I've found a i7 12700kf for 10 pound more than the 11th i7.

I was looking at ddr5 but it's pretty expensive. I found some Kingston fury 4800 16gb for £120 but I've only really used Kingston in the past as some value ram for office based systems.
I'm not sure if they are any good or not for gaming.

Thanks.

Until the reviews come out on nov 4th we won't know for sure the difference between DDR4/5 so maybe worth hanging on for a few days.

The E-cores can be disabled.

it manages to keep my ryzen 7 2700x

Which motherboard do you have? The bang-for-the-buck CPU right now is the Intel 11400f. You can buy one and a motherboard for less than the price of a 5600X.

YOUR ORDER
1 X Asus TUF Gaming B560M-Plus (Socket LGA 1200) Micro ATX Motherboard - £132.95
SKU: MB-6G8-AS
1 X Intel Core i5-11400F 2.60GHz (Rocket Lake) Socket LGA1200 Processor - Retail - £149.99
SKU: CP-69D-IN
1 X AMD Ryzen 5 5600X Six Core 4.6GHz (Socket AM4) Processor - Retail - £299.98
SKU: CP-3CC-AM
Grand Total: £593.42

The 5600X isn't worth twice as much as an 11400F.

The 11400F will undoubtedly be replaced with the 12400F sometime soon. But you already have an AM4 motherboard. If it's reasonably recent it makes more sense to get a better Ryzen CPU, especially as LGA1200 on the Intel side is a dead end, replaced by LGA1700.
