Ok heres the story.
My gf's dad owns his own business and before I came on the scene he has had the hdd replaced because some pc repair man told him the hdd is buggered. Its not, it just has a virus.
I told him I would back up his files and restore the hard drive back to working order.
The system has several windows user profiles which I can access all except one. His.
My computer tells me I do not have permission to access this users folder.

What can I do to gain access?
Is it a matter of obtaining a password because I dont think that will be an issue, I just can't find any way to change anything to give me access?

If you have placed his Hdd into your pc you should be able to take ownership of the folder first then change the security settings to allow your administrator account into the folder.

This is what to do, had to do this recently myself.

I'm sure you can also use a Linux boot disk to do it, can't remember the name atm, but someone will post it before long.

Yeah you could use something like Barts PE Builder or any PE Install boot cd and its likely to allow access to the files.

But putting the Hdd in another pc is about the same - as the permissions for your computer administrator will have the most access.
