Hiya,
I hope this is allowed here, if not feel free to move/ delete :)
My brother needs to borrow a set of OSX disks for a Macbook Pro, as he's wrecked both his disks and his install
If theres anyone who's willing to lend these & post them to Cornwall, please drop me a mail.

Cheers

You can get a replacement set directly from Apple for £7.

Can't find the link on Apple, but if you call them they'd be happy to help :)

Any retail set would work.. so long as it's an Intel Retail Set.

Argh! Just remembered I left mine dawn sarf. :(

Oh well, Leopard will be here before I need them, hopefully...

Cheers, all I had found was buy another copy at full price  I presume they'll want the serial when ordering?

I would assume so.

If you cannot boot the MacBook Pro then I suggest looking through old emails for any "order confirmation" emails.. they usually have a full rundown of the serial and model numbers.

So long as they can trace the order back then they'll know your legit :)

The serial is under the battery anyway ;)
Its in warranty, so if the worst comes to the worst, they can have it and fix it. (Original MBP, we've been meaning to send it in for the buzz, but never got round to it)
Higher education does have its uses sometimes.

Can I bump this please?
Apple have confirmed they want £43 just for a set of OSX disks

I know, there is a checksum on the disc that looks for the hardware.

There is a way to disable this (can't explain how) which makes the retail disc install on any machine (so long as it's an Intel) :)
