In a flat at the moment and sharing a neighbours wireless while I wait for pipex to get their act together.

I have my wireless antenna on a 50 cm wire and I can just pick up the signal from his router, but its so low it's virtually non existent.

I'm looking for a quick and dirty way of getting the signal up to scratch, any ideas? Shoving the antenna in a pringles can or something like that is the kind of thing I'm after.

There's nothing in my first post that's illegal, so if you don't want to help, or can't, then please don't bother posting.

Anyone got anything for me?

If you have your neighbour's approval, they could surely move the router somewhere nearer (or attach better antennae)?

I'm only using his connection for around a week, so I don't see much point in investing in a better antennae.

Trouble is he's a few buildings down so I don't think moving the router around will make a huge difference, and I'm, pretty limited as I have my PC setup where I want it.

Anything I can do to my antenna to increase it's range?

Better antennae didn't necessarily mean buying them - the cantenna et al would give better results too (and be near enough free).
You could do the same with your wireless card but your mileage may vary.

Ok well are there any guides on something I can knock together with my existing antenna at my end?its literally an antenna with a magnet at its base on a 50 cm wire.
