I have our company file server based at home in our loft - its permanently connected to the old internet and basically runs our company client/server database + holds various documents for viewing only download.

The machine we are using is fine - but its a bit old - as well as the company use I am also wanting to use it as a home network file server for all documents - large picture files - MP3's etc with a gigabyte lan connection - its my company by the way!

Questions . . .

Can I use two Gbyte Lans on the server - 1 for internet and 1 for internal network - my desktop machine has 2 x Gbyte lans on the MB

What would be a good spec - I am thinking core2 + 2Gb RAM + 2 x 750 GB HDD's in a Raid 1 config + Windows XP Pro etc

The processing power need not be too great as the applications we use are VERY simple MS office & www.cardbox.com for the c/s database - but I do need lightning fast network speed for home office file transfers etc

Any ideas please - plus I would like to build it myself!
