Need to change the bitrate of my mp3's, which software is best?

To do the above?

I need to fit as many songs on my 2gb phone/walkman for holidays.

I have tried a few software but its taking 2mins per song to covert and is taking ages. Whats the best software i can use? and whats the best setting with out effecting quality a great deal?

I coverted a few of my mp3's to 64kbps 24000hz and the quality seems fine, just over a 1 meg for a 3 min song.

Any recommendations guys cheers!

cdex, free and i like it, bit minimal but it does the job fantastically.

obv there are others but meh, i only use cdex.

64Kbps sounds fine :eek:

You must be using really really bad headphones.

I use nero to do encodings, if your device can playback AAC/WMA/OGG use that instead.

just an update, ive been using music match jukebox and its excellent, converts a song in seconds
