I need to completely Uninstall a driver from a system but uninstalling from device manager doesn't get rid of it, can anyone recommend a way of getting it gone for good?

It's for a USB touch screen monitor. We're installing the driver on the disc but MS keeps putting some universal driver over the top of it...

Is the driver you want to remove one of the Microsoft Windows drivers, or a previously disk or website installed driver?

If it's a Microsoft driver it's constantly going to be creating a new one from the backup files. I may have misunderstood your question, but are you trying to install a new driver from a disk or remove all drivers completely for the USB Touch Screen Monitor?

Windows may use its own if the one on the disc is not suitable or is much older than the built-in Windows driver. I would suggest going to the manufacturer's website and see if they have any recent drivers for your specific OS.

If windows is installing its own drivers over the top of an official driver, then it must be seriously outdated or crap.
I would let the windows driver take priority to be quite honest.

But if you have to uninstall it, then you can either force an install over it by using the "have disc" option in windows, or totally delete the hardware from device manager (which will just reinstall the driver when it finds new hardware again)
