Can anyone help me out with getting an OC configured via the BIOS ?

The last proper overclocking I did was back on a P4 chip - and so much options / changes since then !!

I installed the ASUS AI Suite when I first built my rig - and it pretty much auto overclocked the CPU to 4.4 - 4.5ghz.

It runs fine, but theres a few things that niggle me so I want to ditch the software ( don't think its that good to be honest anyway ) - Get some occasional BSOD's - and looking at the bug checks its always down to this :

C:\Program Files (x86)\ASUS\AISuiteIII\DIP4\DIPAwayMode\DipAwayMode.exe

The RAM also doesn't run at the speed its rated at with this auto-overclock ( even though XMP profile is enabled in the BIOS ) ( should be 2666 - but it runs at 2400 MHz )

Looking at the BIOS - its actually scary !!! So many different options to what I remember ( but it was a long time ago )

TL;DR

Want to ditch AI Suite.
Aim for around a 4.4 - 4.5ghz O/C on the CPU
Get my RAM running at 2666 MHz ( Or better )

Help !

I am pretty sure that the reason the memory is not running at the correct speed is because of the ratio. For some reason if you want to run memory at 2666 then you need to run a blk of 125. So if you have set it to use ratio tuning in Only AISuite3 then you will be stuck at that really. To be honest you will see almost zero performance improvement unless you are a benchmark junkie. That said, if you chose the option to overclock the memory in AISUITE3 it normally backs of the steppings and bumps the speed to 2800Mhz. That said I did read that this issue was going to be sorted in a future BIOS update.

You can set the overclock with AISuite3 then go to the BIOS and save the profile. Once done you have a decent start point for you to play with. You can then uninstall AISUITE3 with no problems. I would say that if you are getting lockups or bsod then the Overclock isn't stable and needs either more voltage or less ratio. If you think that BIOS looks scary you really shouldn't be playing with that stuff.

I have used the latest AISuite3 a fair bit with no issues at all its very reliable and tweaking after the overclock isn't really that hard. I would say if its crashing with a bugcheck its down to your os or even memory problem.

I bit the bullet and just removed AI Suite.

Just updated the BIOS to the latest one 1601 I think it was.

I did wonder about the BLK - but i was messing around with the bios settings and set it to 100. Set it to a 44 ratio to get my 4.4 Ghz as it ran fine on this and 4.5 via AI Suite.

I 'think' i might of just done it.....ram looks like its running at 3000 MHz ?

Does this look ok ?
