Need to download a Youtube clip to stick in powerpoint

In the end I just used the developer tab in PP and whacked in a WMP object and pointed the URL to the mp4 file on my desktop. It worked :)

But it needs to be playable in PP?

Oh, I thought that when you said it was for your Mother it wasn't going to go into powerpoint.

You can try something like HandBrake to convert them to MP4 or whatever Powerpoint will read; save the originals though as converting them will butcher the quality.

I tried converting them in handbrake but they don't export properly.

Anybody know which formats work with PP?

Have you tried the youtube downloader? and saving it as Mov / AVI?

Is vixy.net the best for this kind of thing? I infrequently need to download a YouTube video and I can never remember the last service I used and waste time looking for it again. I'll commit this to memory if it is.
