Need to drive an automatic

Funny, that's what the brochure

It's not, you just read it wrong :p

And what does the 11 Plate 320d Auto have in it? Doesn't drive like a Dual Clutch nor a CVT and the shifts are jerky.

It has a ZF Torque converter auto in it - very likely the same physical box found in all sorts of car others from other manufacturers. Never noticed the shifts being that jerky in the last one I drove.

Like the saying goes , once you go automatic you'll never go back to manuals :p

i've just done such a thing. Had an Auto and now going back to manual.
Hated it. felt like i wasn't driving the car. Gears never changed when i wanted it too etc. horrible horrible horrible.

obviously it depends on the auto box but from my experience i hated it.

It's very dependant on the gearbox and engine combination and how well the are calibrated together. The ZF box in my 1st XF was the same box as in my 335d it replaced but the software was much better setup so I found it was in the right gear 99% of the time where I was using sport mode in the 335d to get it to be in the gear I wanted.
