*Need to extend our wireless network*

We have a Netgear WGR614 wireless router provided by Virgin in our student house, but isn't strong enough to get signal to the whole house.

I'm looking for some sort of wireless thingy-ma-jig to extend our wireless network, but not really sure what I should be looking for. Had a look on the website and not sure if anything on there would help, some recommendations would be helpful :)

Assuming you have ethernet at least partially run through the building extending toward where you need the wireless coverage, then you just need another wireless access point.

You might get away with powerline adapters and an AP plugged into the powerline adapter, but I hate those things with a passion so try and avoid their use.

Should do the trick, looking at the specs on a competitors site it supports WDS, you need to check your current router supports WDS.

No, he bloody well doesn't need a 2nd router.

Find a cheaper repeater then, it'll operate as an AP if you bothered to read past the product title.

# Functions:
# Supports AP, AP Client, Bridge, Bridge+ WDS and Universal Repeater modes

No ethernet at all in the house, just the little wireless router downstairs. I'd looked at the Linksys range extenders but they seem a bit expensive and wondered if I could get a cheaper router to do the trick. Apparently not :(

I do, but i am going away tomorrow morning (8am) and wont be able to contact you until Saturday. Can send you a few links though if you want. If you want send me a trust message and I will send you my MSN address

Was my suggestion overlooked for any reason?

Not at all, I'm just not sure if our router supports WDS (not even knowing what this is) and where to find it in the router settings :(

EDIT - just found out that our router does support WDS, however the encryption has to be set to WEP or none, rather annoyingly :(

No because I'm not asking for assistance with replacing the router, I'm asking for assistance with extending our current wireless network.

Right update -

Managed to get hold of a Belkin Wireless G Plus MIMO Router - this one.

Would it be suited to the job of extending our current network?
