Hi Guys

At the moment we'v got 2MB AOL broadband and to be honest i hate AOL as i have to open a whole program up to connect but dads had it for ages and has got so used to it and thinks that theyre giving him the best deal.

I am trying to convince him to change service provider.

If we do change what are the best options/companies to get in London ?

Thanks a lot in advance :D

Even if you only have the USB modem, I am sure that I have seen a guide showing you how to connect without that AOL bloatware.

Realy that would be great. Does anyone know how i can do that or a have a link to the site that will show me. And how would a router help + how much are they ?

Thanks for quick reply :)

I'm presuming you have cable AOL (I think they do both cable and adsl depending on where you live), in which case it might not be a good idea to change providers. As far as I'm aware they haven't begun or showed any signs of planning to impliment bandwidth limits and hold a better history of reliability than NTL for cable.

WRONG

yes aol is hideous but if you get a router or switch (other than aol) you just need to enter the details of the loin into the router and it will connect and there will be no need for ou to have that blastard prog on ** pc

Or just install your USB modem and you will have a new connection in network connections. Double click on the modem and enter your details (@aol.com) and all is well :)

Follow Draegers guide in my thread here , worked great for me when i was using the modem, using the NetGear DG834G router now which doesn't need any software at all as ive just recently upgraded to the 2mb Gold and the router was free, about £65 to buy otherwise. :)
