Need to get some pics of a drive

Have a customers drive here, he wants his pics off it.
Had to get him a new drive as XP decided to mess itself up (wont even enter safew mode) have bought a caddy USB and have the files up but cant access them, or can only get some of them after changing ownership.
Have been trying this for ages but to no avail, is there a way just to give me permission to access the whole drive as I have tried lots of ways but cannot get it to work.

If the drive is formatted to NTFS then the only way would be is to take ownership of the top level folder and propagate the permissions down to all subfolders and files.

Could always get yourself a Live CD of Linux (I prefer Slax). Use this, copy the files from there.

Worked a treat for me.
