As part of my IT coursework I need to design part of a brocure for a travel agent, it needs to look professional, therefore which is the best software to use for such a task?>

The Pro's use Quark and Adobe Illustator iirc.

Used it for years fastest thing going, good price and cracking results.
The big boys all work great but cost is high, steep learning curve and end results not that much different.

which one of the xara softwares?
anything not to do with microsoft, especially not publisher. If you were ever to want to have it professionally printed they would charge you a fortune if you supplied it in a publisher format.
Quark and Illustrator are both pretty good, though I don't your school is going to provide them for some coursework, they are kinda expensive
