Need to make a quick site...

Hi guys,

I've been tasked (as the only IT literate person on the comittee) of structuring a website for our local R/C car club. Unfortunately, bar simple HTML and CSS, I know sweet FA.

All I want is to be able to let a select few users update news items dynamically, to be able to post events, and for these events to show up on a (searchable) calendar.

Styling the page isn't a problem, I'd be able to do that no problem, but the actual back end coding, I don't even know where to start!

So, opinions, ideas, templates, etc etc etc are very welcome!

How about look at wordpress? If you want to allow users to update content etc, its a nice, lightweight and free system that I've seen put to good use.

I've got no experience with wordpress as a website, but I'm sure some of the guys on here could help you out.

PHP is actually pretty easy to pick-up and if you fancy the challenge you could get what you want in a week of on and off coding.

Wordpress would probably be your best bet I think, there's loads of info out there for it to get it up and running: Tutorials, Plugins, Themes etc.
