so a week ago, my mums partner who lives with her wanted to buy a new pc for my brother - kid is 6 and only plays games, youtube, and flash games.

really nothing else mum/him only watch youtube/stream online too!

now i went on and said give me 400 quid and ill build a custom pc for games/etc.

basically he refused and went on to purplestore and bought an advent all in one pc.

this;

Code:
ADVENT DA2207 23.6” All-in-One PC
Intel® Core™ i3-2120
8 GB ddr3
2 TB hdd
1080p monitor
integrated gpu

for 600! :) now ofc i went on and said that this will not play the games he wants, he sees my other brother playing dirt 3/showdown/flatout 2 UC etc

and he wants those games

i have explained him that that computer does not have a dedicated gfx card to run those games properly

yet he insists and i really mean he gets crazy mad about it that this is the best computer he could get and that everyone buys at purplestore because they sell the best computers

and that it will run THOUSANDS(his words) of games because it has 2 TB(exactly what he said)

now i wont argue the pc is good for work, but not for 600 quid :) and i could have built a better pc.

he still thinks im taking the pee by not installing the games and paying for them because i am stupid and i think the pc is bad, i have build 5 custom pcs for my friends and i have upgraded a lot too so i know what is what, even tho he thinks im stupid(he said it again) and i know nothing at all.

now the question is, how do i prove to this human being that he is wrong? he really is getting crazy over it and aggressive too.

i honestly don't care, its his money and i haven't said a thing about it bar the first things i've said about it when he got it

and he calls me super lazy for not installing games, and he actually spoke to some dumb people who agreed that it will run everything and that im lazy :|

agg.. help me out? i was thinking of getting crysis demo and just showing him how well it runs a game released years ago :)

but im 99% sure he will only call me stupid and say i've done it on purpose to break it!

ignoring doesn't help he starts talking about it and calling me stupid again for no reason.

ignoring is exactly what im trying to do!

but my little brother keeps asking for games, obviously he wants them on his new computer :| and the guy just keeps going how lazy i am and that i should never ask for anything from him ever again, and that he will actually PAY people to come over our house, install the games and then i can see how wrong i am.

so how am i meant to ignore it, i guess nodding and agreeing to everything he says is the best idea, and installing some demos would do the job, he wont know the difference between full game and demo.

I would get him to read this thread just to prove the point.

Firstly, going to the purple store was the worst idea ever, he should have listened to you and you build him a far better rig.

Secondly, good luck to him playing the games you mentioned - or most games for that matter - with that spec! An i3 and an integrated gfx card, should be good for something like Doom 2 maybe, that came out in 1994! Well, I will rephrase...the games will run with that spec BUT all the settings will have to be turned down/adjusted and expect the framerate to be dire. So imagine graphics from the original playstation on your shiny new PC! A shiny new PC that could have played games in all their glory.

The only - and I mean only - possibility you may have is to convince him to buy a dedicated gfx card for the pc, however this all depends on the motherboard spec and if it can do that.

you know, i would put my spare 8800gt or 3850 in that pc.. but being an "all in one" i can't fit anything in there

thanks, ill just get some demos for my little brother and let him be :) him or the guy won't know the difference between full game and a demo, ill put them on the lowest settings and leave it as it is :)

its not first time things like that happen, i guess its "low" in his eyes to listen to my advice because i am younger than him.

ill try the systemslab online test too :) if he keeps on going about it.

i cant get the OcUK basket copier extension to work (stoopid chrome update) but show him an equivalent value prebuilt system with a monitor from OcUK. picking a 22" monitor should bring the total to £396.94

was going to build a similar system for 400! but instead of 22" i would have taken an 18.5-19" monitor (he sits quite close to it anyway no need for anything more) and a midrange gpu(something in 6850 area) which would have been perfect for the 720p res gaming.

Why don't you tell him to buy the games he wants, and that you will install them if he gives them to you? And if they don't run, its his fault for buying such a terrible PC. There's no way he should expect you to buy the games, after all.

good idea! ill suggest him that :))

Don't argue with idiots.

If he keeps calling you stupid, tell your mum to sort it out or kick his teeth in. Not really, but how can you put up with verbal abuse over nothing?

he's a bit.. well special! I'm really not going to kick in just for verbal abuse but yeah its weird when you offer someone your help and then you get called stupid because he made the mistake, actually less than hour after he got the pc i said "the best thing for you to do now is to pack it back in the box and return it" his response was "ill better take it outside and smash it then listen to you" :D

funny guy, sucks that i have to deal with him.

is your first language English?

Nope, 3rd actually :-) why did you ask?

if you dont care like you say,

then leave it, relax and wait till he comes running. if not then who cares

if you said that to him though, its a bit douchey, and isnt surprising it annoyed him. it would annoy me thats for sure.

It is, but he wasnt nice with me either when i explained that it is not suitable for games he wants to play on it.

Haha, i really dont care its just that he is getting on my nerves a bit with the games... i dont mind installing them but i know its a waste of time. That is the only thing that bothers me.

Why do you care so much? he obviously doesn't want your help, it's not your money or anything, I'd leave it alone.

i dont care i have left it alone, but i live in the same house and he bothers me non STOP with the games, i have left it alone after the first day :) but he can't do it for some reason and he keeps coming up with it! :o

i have decided to just install some demos and leave it, he won't know the difference and if they don't run ill explain him that and he can stuff him self if he doesn't like it.
