Hi

I am a contracter and have been vasked to provide my client with a proof of the print I am doing for them.

They have supplied me with a print ready pdf in the correct format (cmyk). I normally just send it straight to my printers and they print it exactly to the correct dimensions etc.

So I am a bit perplexed by this. What do they mean by proof?

Hi Golf1.6,

I'm a rep for Label Printer and we provide one of two types of proof to our customers:

1. A pdf with a cutter guide placed on top to show the artwork in the format it will appear on the finished item.

2. a physical proof printed on one of our presses so they can sign off on colours etc.

What kind of print is it?

Hey,

I work as a designer in a printers and this is not unusual. They are probably asking for a proof, as if they have had printing done at some place else before then they probably want to be able to check the print you are going matches the same colours as they had before.

As different digital printing presses can produce different colours shades, and they want to be able to match them exactly. Quite normal.
