Hi, got some problems with Windows XP, I dont want to have to re-install Vista but I need to re-install XP, and I know when I do this I will no longer have access to Windows Vista, is there anyway I can gain access the vista again withought having to re-install?

Thanks
Willz.

It depends. Are the two OSs on the same partition or different partitions? If it's the latter, no it will be fine, Vista will remain in tacked, and accessable.

They are both on a different partition, last time I installed Windows XP after Vista it always overwrites the Vista bootloader :s.

If they're on different partitons its fine. Just do a repair install on XP. If you have a problem with Vista, stick the Vista DVD in and select repair computer. It will fix the BOOTMGR missing message. ;)

I dont get a bootmgr missing message, it 's just as if Vista aint there ant it boots into XP only, I had this problem last time and found myself re installing Vista :(

Just had the same problem as you but I followed this guide for Vista Boot Pro and it's all sorted now:

what he said. reinscall xp on the current xp partition. the use vistabootpro to build a new vista boot menu

Is there an XPboot pro? the BCD seems to be totally messed up, XP setup cant even pick up the isntallation of XP for me to repair it, I tried using Vista Boot Pro from within Vista to create a boot for it but it does not work, maybe I'm doing it wrong but all I have access to now is Vista and I want access to XP withought re isntalling it, problem occoured again since I got new HDD's so I had to re install, the link above in another post does not help in my situation since I cant access XP.
