I’m not really sure what I should be looking for so hoping someone can help.
The window lock mechanism in our bathroom window has given up, turning the lever has no effect on the lock movement and the window can be opened by just pushing it open regardless of whether it’s locked or not.

Here’s some pics of what I’m talking about -

Does anyone know if I can buy this whole unit to replace it, and where from?

I'm guessing that it going to be the lock mechanism which has gone as opposed to the handle.

Remove the handle and then slide the lock out. See if you can find any identifiable markings and have a look for a direct replacement.

It's going to be something similar to this by the looks of it: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Saracen-Upvc-Window-Espag-Shootbolt-Lock-Duraflex-Gearbox-11-5-Bolt/231547590361?_trkparms=aid=222007&algo=SIM.MBE&ao=1&asc=20160908110712&meid=61768b0b307748eda64ad92c70f038e7&pid=100677&rk=3&rkt=18&sd=330551312983&_trksid=p2385738.c100677.m4598

EDIT:

In fact, the eBay link looks identical. Same number on the metal locking part too (whatever that means).

From the listing:
Left & Right Hand Available

Handing can be identified by a coloured dot under the black faceplate

Red Dot = Right Hand
Blue Dot = Left Hand

If No Dot’s are visible you can id by
Viewed from the inside if the handle points to the left its a left hand if it points to the right its a right hand

Is there a dot on yours?

I'd guess at right side, as the lock is on the right. But I really don't know. I don't quite get what the listing means by "Viewed from the inside if the handle points to the left its a left hand if it points to the right its a right hand"

Take the handle off and check before buying anything as i have had a few spindles drop out before but more than likely the gearbox has shattered

Can’t get it out as there’s plastic strips with metal rods down the inside of the window essentially locking it in, which I need to remove. Might be easier to remove the whole window in order to get at it!

The handle should come off by removing the 2 screws one behind the gold square and the other you will see when you turn the handle 90 degrees

Well I took a punt on the left hand one and it came today. Managed to remove everything and put the new mechanism in, was a bit fiddly in places but all sorted and it’s much better, had even helped close the window tighter so just in time for the cold weather!
Thank you guys for your help :)
