Hi,

I have a set of component speakers that were in my car when I got it, they comprise of a Diamond Audio D6 crossover, D661 mid. The tweeters I think are the OE ones they never bothered to change. One of the mid's has stopped working so I'm thinking of replacing the set.

I'm quite happy with the sound they put out, so I don't really want to bother with an amp setup, just some similar set of comps that I can swap them out with.

Any suggestions?

Thanks

I'm looking for some myself. I can't really recommend you any but I've been leaning towards some Hertz component speakers. There is a lot of info over at the Talk Audio forum....

If you aren't using an amp then evidently you need speakers that have a sensitivity rating of 92db or above. JBL, Hertz and Infinity are all supposed to make speakers that run well direct off the head unit.

Most say that to get the best out of any custom speakers then an amp is a must. I was looking to replace just my speakers and not bother with an amp but maybe thinking about fitting one now. Also sound deadening and sealing of inner skins of doors that the speakers are mounted in is a must. I suppose it depends on how much you want to spend and how much effort you want to go to.

Thanks, I'd been reading over there and read the same :)

are you sure the mid isn't working, it could be the crossover with a dry solder joint

It could be, it's in pretty poor shape with rust all over the terminals. I'm going to clean it up over the weekend and see.
