Need to spec a friend for £850

My friend is looking to put together a pc for gaming and other general work.

Max budget is £850 and this needs to include a monitor/keyboard/mouse/windows xp

I guess conroe is best but can it be done with the budget. Overclocking is not really necessary, but 2gb ram is preferred as it is for gaming.

XP is an antique, vista is out in retail on january.

XP is an antique, that's why it's still the latest Windows OS in home PCs. Uhuh.

Anyways, on another note, some other websites sell PC packages for around 800 that come with XP, as well as the free option to upgrade to Vista when that comes out. Bizarrely enough, OCuK doesnt do this, so you'll have to look elsewhere if you want to go down that route.

XP's price tag is a disgrace, £100 and it has been out for like 8 years. Not only that XP with SP2 is like £250. Shove that, no wonder Bill Gates is so rich, due to his rip off prices, Vista will cost a bomb too, probly £450, rofl whos going to pay for that.

ya i know xp is dated but its £62 for oem on ocuk which isnt too bad. When vista comes out i dread to think what the price of that will be.
