Hi guys,

I've been lumbered with a machine that needs a new motherboard, I have the new board but I'd like to take out the hard drive a copy everything off of it onto a doner hard drive before I flatten it and re-install windows... there's actually only about 40gb of stuff on it! I need to be able to copy everything back onto it once I've finished installing the new board.

I need something free and fairly quick - I don't want it to take all night :D

I was thinking about lumping everything from the drive into one folder and syncing that with freefilesync onto the doner machine?

Any thoughts :)

can you not make a system image of the existing harddrive to the new harddrive?
Windows 7 has this feature built in

Using Vista unfortunately... it could do with a fresh install anyway and I don't want to be the one hunting around for what to keep and what not to keep etc :p Its not for me.

I thought a full copy was the easiest solution?
