Need to help someone with their upgrade. Used for word processing, internet browsing. Budget circa £300

Current setup - Seems to have ground to a crawl.
Q6600
Asus P5B
4 or 8GB DDR2
500gb HDD
GPU not sure but circa 2006!
Case is Ok
400w Seasonic from same era
2006 24 inch Dell running at 1900x1200

Was thinking about something as per below, or just getting a refurb Dell Optiplex i5 2400, adding the HDD's, below for similar price.

Thoughts?

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £319.41 (includes shipping: £10.50)

I thought about 2200g, but I was worried about stability this early in the roll out.

It's a PITA when something goes amiss and you're getting your ears bent. :p

For an office PC, I feel like you're better off getting a used sandy/ivy bridge small form factor Dell from the bay, then upgrading the hard drive to an SSD.

I managed to get a dell optiplex 9010 SFF from the bay for £70. Was advertised as i5-3470 4gb ram and hard drive, and 'not working/for parts' with the description saying it boots with an unhappy face and restarts again.
After contacting the seller to confirm it does power on, I bartered the asking price from £80.

Turned out the machine needed a windows reinstall, had 8gb of ram instead, and had no dust inside whatsoever! It runs windows and office far better than my dad's core2 duo, so it's been donated as a present to him.

You may want to consider replacing the PSU too - capacitors age badly, and if it's 12 years old that's longer than any manufacturer's warranty - and that's assuming it's a named brand.

Take a look at the Intel NUC. Note that the price below includes Windows:

My basket at Overclockers UK:
  • 1 x Primo Nano Celeron - Intel NUC NUC6CAYH Celeron J3455 Quad Core = £424.00
    • Operating System:Microsoft Windows 10 64-Bit DVD - OEM (MS-KW9-00139)
    • Security Software:Unwanted
    • Solid State Drive:Kingston A400 240GB SATA 6Gb/s 2.5" Solid State Hard Drive - (SA400S37/240G)
    • Memory:Kingston HyperX Impact Black Series 8GB 1600MHz DDR3L CL9 SODIMM Kit of 2 1.35V (HX316LS9IBK2/8)
Total: £438.10 (includes shipping: £14.10)

Ended up getting him an Optiplex 7010 SFF. £160
I5-2400
8GB DDR3
500GB WD
MSI GT610LP
Incl. Wifi dongle
Win 10 Pro with COA

Paid a bit of a premium from a seller with good feedback.
Impressed with it. Interior was immaculate. Extremely quiet too.
3.5 inch caddy had a fitting beneath it for the SSD.
