Next to the ketchup...
Recently got back into a bit of PC gaming, but noticed my trusty old system is feeling it's age. Also my current hardware knowledge is very lacking so sorry if I sound like a bit of a half with.

Currently running

16GB Corsair Vengeance DDR3 ram,
AMD Bulldozer FX-4 Quad Core 4130 Black Edition 3.80GHz
Asus M5A78L-M/USB3 AMD 760G (Socket AM3+)
XFX 7850 1GB

Can't remember the PSU model but it's half decent.

If I just grab a new graphics card will I see much improvement or will the processor hold me back from doing much higher more? Basically I'd just like to be able to run a few more recent titles higher than medium settings.

Thanks for looking :)

Your CPU is a turtle, unfortunately. No point upgrading the graphics card until you upgrade everything else.

Look at a Ryzen 5 1600
Noctua NH-U14S
Strix B-350-F
16GB DDR4 3200 (2x8)

also you might want a new powersupply if yours is older and not super high end.
