Ok, i'm a overlocker and understand upto DDR2 age.

upto p4/amd x2 ddr

to get best performance DDR speed should be same as CPU fsb i.e 1:1

DDr400 with a cpu with 200fsb

then came amd's hypertransport where memory speed could be slower then cpu's fsb but the hypertranspor would be a intermediate.

now with DDR2 feq being much faster then CPU's fsb are most people running memory , say 400(x2=800) and cpu, say 266 (stock x4 crap)?

if you are a overclocker i'd expect you have it 1:1 or cpu fsb being higher?

i'v seen dell selling c2d 266 fsb cpu with 800mhz ddr2, they dont over clock.

so having memory clock faster then cpu fsb is good these days?

some one clear it up for me please, oh ddr3 is getting popular again memory is faster then cpu fsb.

Thanks, i hope i'm not sounding confusing. not sure how to ask.
