Trying to connect to somebody's machine with VNC. Didn't work, so I tried Remote Assistance over - for some reason it didn't work, and I'm not 100% sure why. My machine tried to connect to there machine, it failed after about 20 seconds of the "attempting to connect" message.

I'm guessing it's do with the ports on their router - so is there any really simple program/method to connect, without mucking on with ports?

We tried to access their router (BT Voyager 2500v), but they've forgotten their BT password. Never come across a router asking for a BT username and password though, but Portforwarding.com agrees too...

It's a case of them getting/resetting their password, and/or getting a very easy to get work remote assistance program!

So would I get the person on the other computer setup a LogMeIn account, I login and then access their machine?

You can create the account, they then download the client and log in with your details etc and add password etc, then you just go to logmein.com and manage your pcs and you should see it there available for log in.

Pretty straight forward, they can then change the password on the PC if they feel its a problem, or disable/uninstall the client
