Hi there

I am a novice mac user but this afternoon did something really stupid. I wanted to play back an avi file and d/l VLC player to do so. This was fine, could play back the video, but I tried to delete the d/l file which came as a disk image file. When I restarted my macbook, my desktop wallpaper, dock icons, all my little customisations, photos etc have gone. As you can appreciate I need urgent help to get this back. I am using os x Tiger [haven't upgraded yet]. Is there a utility in os x like system restore in XP which will allow me to roll back my system to earlier today and get everything back? I would be really grateful for any help.

I realised the prob...I renamed my home folder and the puter reset to factory defaults when it restarted. I have changed the name back and hey presto..its all back, panic over. Now how do I delete this thread??

Cheers Justin...just panicked a bit earlier and then when I calmed down found the solution on the Apple support site.
