Hi ive just finshed building my pc, and booted up to install windows 7. Once booted up it comes with the error saying
"Windows has encountered a problem communicating with a device to your computer.

This error can be caused by unplugging a removal storage device such as an external USB drive while the device is in use, ir by faulty hardware such as a hard drive or CD-ROOM drive that is failing. Make sure any removable storage is properly connected and then restart your computer."

Status: 0xc00000e9
Info: An unexpected I/O error has occured.

Ive checked everything and looks like theyre all working. Please help:(

Have you ran windows update?

Look in the optional downloads as there may be fix listed or at least a device/driver that needs updating.

EDIT: Also if it's a Sandybridge setup try updating the hdd, dvds firmware.

It may indeed be a failing HDD or a faulty RAM module, make sure everything is plugged in securely and re-fit if necessary. Remove all USB devices prior Windows install screen and reset BIOS if necessary (do not OC before OS install) I assume all this is happening before actual physical HDD install?

Try plugging your harddrive into a different sata port...

As My PC did something like this when i had one my harddrives plugged into a sata 6gb/s port

Thank you guys for your help. Finally managed to install it. There was a problem with the W7 CD, so had to rip and reburn on a different DVD and re-install it.

Oooo errrr !

This happens when you 'forget' to pay microsoft ?!

Thanks for the info, but I've already paid Microsoft! And not only that I've heard if you don't legitimate windows, they can send a virus and mess up your computer! Ive spend over £600 on my computer, I think I can afford £70 more.
