Right, I need to reset an admin password.

My tools:

One Macbook pro
3 DVD-Rs.

How do I do this considering I have no CDs to burn an image for the reset tools?

Ok.. I dont know if this happend to you because you have not said about if you lost or whatever the password

But I had this on xp for no reason.well infact I had no password but it asked for one
and no matter what I tried I could not get in.
So i pulled out the jack for the cable modem and it went right in :)

I have since found out XP thought it was on a domain.
I dont know if this will help.

And I take it you can't get your hands on a XP install cd?

No the password was forgotten :)

Give it a shoot if all else fails.

Try this in the guest account it may work

  1. Click on ‘Start‘ and then on ‘Run…‘.
  2. Type ‘cmd‘ (opens up the command prompt).
  3. Now type net user * (do not omit the spaces)
  4. You will get a prompt like .. Type a password for the user:
  5. Type the desired password and press Enter key. Also note that you wont see *****s as you type but don’t worry.
  6. You will again get a prompt like .. Retype the password to confirm:

Nope, none of that worked.
