i watched a film when it had finished i noticed i wasnt connected to the internet, so i unpluged the power to the router for 10 secs then pluged it back in and nothing

so i restarted the pc went the loo came back and it hadnt booted (black screen) when it should have given the time i was awaty, i pressed reset button and tried to select start windows normally with the keyboard, nothing happened then it just started to boot i think

it went to the black screen with the loading bar on the bottom and stayed there for about 3/4 mins its usualy on there a matter of seconds then the screen went black nothing happened

so i hit the reset button again this time it got to the start in sare mode option but i coulndt select it again as keyboard was unresponsive, the time clicked down and it started windows normally but a new screen came up "windows boot manager" and the info says "windows failed to load because the system registry file is missing or corrupt" it stays on this screen

please help me guys need my pc badly!

os: vista home prem x64

ive seen this message before fella. All you need to do is put your OS disk in open it and you want to repair the pc. The disk will try to repair it and if it cant it'll just do a system restore to when your pc was working properly last. it's nothing to worry about mate.

i would have thought so. When you do a system restore files arent gonna be wiped only programmes. if you didnt install any programmes in the last few days you'll be fine everything will seem normal. it'll just do a restore to the day before, mine did.

i put the disk in nothing is happening

and im pressing enter on the keyboard and its not doing anything just being unresponsive

any more ideas?

Make sure your BIOS is set to allow legacy USB on boot. Having this off can prevent some keyboards/mice from working outside of the OS itself. I also always tell my BIOS that my OS is not plug and play aware - that way the BIOS automatically loads drivers for hardware on boot. Good luck :)

does the caps lock work? can you get into the bios on your pc...

If its a usb kb can you try in in another port,

is your kb usb and plugged into a hub with other devices? - if so plug it into the pc and unplug the usb hub

can you try a different KB?

might jsut be your kb is broke...!

i can use keyboard in the setup but only thing i can see to do with a keyboard is in the standard cmos features called

halt on:
all errors
no errors
all, but keyboard
all, but diskette
all, but disk/key

i cant see the allow legacy usb on boot option

ok i have found the legacy usb option and it now works

i've put in the disc and still nothing, so i press enter and it tells me to select os, which i do. but it then just takes me vack to the start windows normaly/safe mode screen
