I've got the urge -.- Specs of my current system as follows:
  • CASE: Fractal Design Define R2 Black Pearl
  • CPU: E8400 (3.8ghz)
  • RAM: 4GB Corsair XMS2 PC6400 (2x2gb)
  • GPU: PNY 8800GT 512mb
  • MOBO: Abit IP35 Pro XE
  • PSU: Corsair HX520W
  • COOLING: Corsair H-50 for CPU with stock fan + various high end case fans
  • SYSTEM HDD: WD Blue 320GB for Windows 7
  • STORAGE HDD: 640GB 2.5", 1TB & 2TB 3.5"

I want to upgrade just the main components within a budget of about £400-500:
  • CPU
  • RAM
  • GRAPHICS CARD + quieter better aftermarket cooler
  • MOBO
  • PSU - only if necessary
  • SYSTEM HDD - considering a SSD?

Is it worth waiting or should I go for it?
ps. I'd sell the old components so should make some of that money back.

There's nothing wrong with just upgrading your CPU and GC. You may get some bargain quad core LGA775s and you'll have plenty of cash for either a 5850 or 5870. You'd notice a signifcant performance leap on what you have without touching your mobo, HDDs or memory, which still have plenty of life in them yet :)

Great :) Anyone spec me a CPU and graphics card (+ quieter and stronger cooler) worth paying for? Within a reasonable budget (maybe £250-£300?)..
