I've just finished school and now have about 13 weeks of absolutely nothing until I go to college. I've got some webspace and really want to make use of it, but I haven't got any good ideas of what to do with it.

I was wondering if any of you young, intelligent OcUK members would have any ideas of what I should do with my website? A mate suggested a myspace clone, but 10 times better. I hate myspace, so definitely not. I've also been thinking of some kind of tutorial site about programming and graphics, but there are so many that it probably won't work and I'll lose interest.

So, what do you want on the internet?

Much Love,
Paul

I'm not sure how one would 'beat' myspace/facebook given their wide use and growth.

However, why not fill your time doing something productive, like learn php and build a CMS system or something.

I've learnt quite a bit of PHP and made a few CMS's before, but I just need something to do with it. I need an idea of what the end product should be, then I'll start building it up and learning more on the way. Thanks though. :)

I am not sure if this already exists, but what about a site which shows details about music gigs.

What I mean by this is local ones (not mainstream), I am talking about gigs that are played in the community hall around the corner.

Users come onto your site and post about their band gigs or about a gig they have heard of. And then you can type in your post code or something and it tells you about all the gigs near you.

Possibly a too big of a job - but it would keep you busy.

That's actually a really good idea, cheers.
It would be a beast of a job, but I might actually try this.

Does anyone else have any other ideas that they'd like to share?
If not, I might have a go with this :)

I'm with the guy that posted immediately to your reply. Building something like a CMS would be fantastic for you. Especially considering you could template it up, and allow your production of future sites to be rolled out module by module. One of my friends did that @ the start of this year and produces websites for companies and gaming teams wanting a professionally done website.

He seems to be doing very well out of it, and the speed in which he can roll out a site has been really impressive
